If you’re like me and don’t want to waste time in the bottomless depth of YouTube, reddit or other social medias, yet want to keep up with some informative content, discord + automation might be the solution you’re looking for. By using automation, we can minimize our input and sent content we want directly to us.
What tool to use for automation?
I’ve tried a lot of the tools available including IFTTT, Zappier, YouTube bot and a few others bots. Each had their benefits, but had major drawbacks like limited number of feed post, unreliability and more. So the one I settled one, and the most convenient and powerful in my opinion is the YAGPDB Bot.
How to set it up?
Step 1 : Make a new Discord server and different channels for the different type of contents. For example I made separate channels for informative/entertainment YouTube videos and a few others for Reddit feeds)
Step 2 : Go to YAGPDA’s website and invite the bot to your server. Then return to their website and login to discord. Then select your server (top right)
Step 3 : Under Notification & Feeds (left side panel), select the source of your feed. Right now they provide Reddit, YouTube and Twitter.
Step 4 : Now provide the required data like the name of the sub-reddit, name of the YouTube channel or a persons Twitter handle, then select the channel you would like to receive the message in. And your all done.
Step 5 : Sit back, relax and let the feed come to you.
